Fraktur Hex Signs
Commonly referred to as "Pennsylvania Dutch" or "Amish" Hex signs, this traditional form of rural Anabaptist folk art is neither Dutch nor related to the Amish. In fact they are found on the barns of other sects of "plain" folk, that originated from German, Bavaria. These religious groups settled in many places around the United States, including PA, VA, IN, FL, GA, MD, OH, TX. The hex signs on this page were painted and designed by Brandy Zzyzx, of Los Angeles, CA.
